Solomon and Otto Families.


My sister in law is related by marriage to the Solomon and Otto families. The Ottos came to South Africa in the 1700s. Michiel Otto through his second marriage became the owner of "Vergelegen," which had once belonged to Willem Adriaan van der Stel. There are many Ottos in the family data with a particularly rich history in Natal.

The Solomon Branch has an equally rich background reaching back to 1700 in Bromley in Kent.

Part of the Solomon/Otto connection goes back to William I King of England. He was born about 1027. The family also includes Drakes the most famous or infamous of whom is Sir Francis Drake. A google search for the "Richest pirate" currently records Sir Francis Drake as the 2nd richest pirate of all time
